The Bristol Somali Resource Centre (BSRC) provides free and impartial information, advice and guidance on a range of issues including welfare, housing, schools and employment. BSRC also organises activities and workshops to enhance employment opportunities, social interaction and to help reduce isolation. We work with the most disadvantaged people in Bristol, helping them overcome many problems and challenges that they face.

BSRC helped me when I was struggling with homelessness and lacking any income or benefits. They helped me sort out my pension and claim Pension Credit. They helped me throughout the long journey to getting my own permanent place to live, including getting essential white goods and sorting out Council Tax. Without the BSRC, settling in this city for many people would have been a struggle.

When I lost my home in 2021, I knew I had to be strong for myself and my children. Everyone at BSRC worked together to support and help me work out what I needed to do. Four years later, after a lot of hard work, life is good. I have changed careers from cleaning to care work, which I love. My new job has also helped me get better at English, so now I am really confident talking to people.
