What We Do

Information, advice and guidance

About this service

We provide free and impartial advice, guidance and information on such issues as benefits, housing, employment, education, money management and consumer rights. We deliver this in a culturally competent way, using English, Somali and Arabic as needed.

Through our advice service, we also support individuals facing a wide range of crises. Common crises include
- threats of eviction by landlords,
- unfair or wrongful dismissal
- indebtedness and destitution
- racist attacks attacks
- domestic abuse.

For someone facing destitution, we may first guide them through setting up benefits claims: checking their eligibility, contacting the DWP, assisting with appeals when the DWP makes a mistake, helping check, understand and take action on Universal Credit, and challenge unfair sanctions. Typically, once that safety net is established, we will help that individual address the problems holding them back from financial stability and independence.
