What We Do
Family and youth services
About this service
Having newly appointed a dedicated family engagement worker and youth worker to our team, we aim to improve the economic prospects of the younger generation by running enriching and skills-building activities for local youth and helping young people make informed choices about their education. After years with little local provision for young people, the former Black Swan pub is currently being developed (see image) into a new youth centre for the area, due to open this August.
We advocate on behalf of pupils at risk of exclusion or expulsion, and help by mediating between families and schools where needed. We help parents find places at the most suitable local schools for their children, guide them through the complexities of the education system and help ease communication between parents and schools.
